When your kids are young enough, you have unique opportunities to make lifelong memories by taking time to have a family holiday. The festive season is over and we’re embarking on a brand-new year, so now is the perfect time to consider what you might do for upcoming holidays such as Easter! Lucky for you, Barmouth can be your ideal family break destination throughout 2016.

Plan a spring getaway now, and join us as we re-open our park facilities for the new season. There are too many fun family activities to count here at Barmouth Bay, as well as a full range of fantastic accommodation options and special offers to ensure you don’t have to break the bank in order to enjoy time away from home. The surrounding area never disappoints either, with great attractions nearby to keep you all entertained. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

The Children’s Farm Park at the Llanfair Slate Caverns (9 miles south of Harlech)

Get your kids into the great outdoors for some fun educational experiences at this wonderful farm park. There are loads of animals to see (and feed), including Floss the famous donkey, pigs, rabbits, calves, ducks, hens and many more. They’re all housed inside the farm buildings, so if the weather does turn against you there’s no need to scrap the whole day. Besides the menagerie, the farm offers crazy golf, a family nature trail and much more. The park opens from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and begins operation at Easter time until (and including) October Half Term holiday.

Harlech Castle and Beach

After seeing the animals in Llanfair, you could head a little further north and see the amazing sounds of historic Harlech. Its imposing castle has stood since 1283, ever atop its great spur of rock. Each day from 10:00am to 4:00pm you can explore it and learn more about this amazing piece of British heritage. Just nearby is the stunning Harlech Beach, a beautiful sandy stretch of beach suitable for sandcastle building and bathing alike! Dog restrictions do apply, however, so plan ahead if you are bringing Fido along!

Glyndwr’s Way National Trail

Named for intrepid Welsh hero, Owain Glyndwr, the half-way point on this incredible 135-mile trailruns close to Barmouth. When the sun’s out, take your family into the unforgettable landscapes of Snowdonia and explore a portion of this path. In all its glory, it covers rolling farmland, open moorland, forests, lakes reservoirs – it’s Wales at its very best.

Finally, of course, don’t forget Barmouth itself, with plenty of off-site options for a meal out together, or a stroll in Old Town. Alternatively, occupy the kids with MyActive programs in our holiday park while you relax, or enjoy some family entertainment in the evenings together. Your holiday, your rules!
