Three Peaks Yacht Race

The Three Peaks Yacht Race is one of the most extreme sailing events in the country. This year marks its 40th anniversary and will feature competitors from all over the world. The race starts in Barmouth on Saturday 11th June and concludes at Fort William in Scotland on Tuesday – after Snowdon, Scarfell Pike and Ben Nevis have been climbed!

Barmouth Kite Festival

To see a wonderful, colourful display of kites, visit the beach opposite the Barmouth Lifeboat Station on the 25th and 26th June. Run by long-time enthusiasts and bespoke kite makers, the Kite Festival is sure to display some of the most unique designs out there. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Country Music and Line Dancing Festival

Every year in Talbot Square the Barmouth Country Music and Line Dancing Festival attracts huge crowds of party-goers. The 2016 event will begin on Friday 1st July. Tickets are available for just £6 and include access to the function room at the Arbour Hotel on Saturday 2nd July. Artists appearing at this year’s festival include DJ Derrick, Bobby James and Johnny Holland.

The RNLI Fun Day

All of the money raised during the RNLI Fun Day extravaganza will go towards the lifeboat charity, which has saved hundreds of lives in and around Barmouth. On August 14th the boat house will be open to the public from 10.30am. There will be a selection of stalls and games, along with a raffle and BBQ. Visitors can also meet and mingle with the lifeboat crew.

Llanbedr Beer Festival

If you’d like to enjoy a wide selection of locally brewed ales, along with top quality live music from both local and national artists, the village of Llanbedr is definitely the place on be on 16th and 17thSeptember. The Beer Festival is one of the highlights in the Barmouth calendar, attracting people from all over the region.

Barmouth Walking Festival

For 10 days in September the people of Barmouth like to enjoy the last bit of sunshine with 35 different walks in and around the area. During the Barmouth Walking Festival local guides will provide an extensive programme designed for all ages and skill levels. The festival also includes three evenings of food and drink, where both locals and visitors will have the chance to mingle and socialise with other like-minded people.

Barmouth Heritage Trail

Unlike the other featured events, you can partake in the Barmouth Haritage Trail during any time of the year. However, it’s certainly best absorbed in the summer, when you can enjoy and sandy beaches and picturesque Snowdonia views in all their glory. The trail itself is an easy nine mile walk that will teach you all about the locality and history of the town – and there are plenty of places along the way where you can stop off for a bite to eat.
