Christmas and New Year are over, but more school holidays are just around the corner. What’s more, we’re right on the cusp of starting the 2016 season at Whitecliff Bay, with all park facilities re-opening and welcoming another year of happy families and visitors from far and wide. We hope you will be among them! There are lots of great family activities going on in 2016 and we don’t want you to miss them. Here are some ideas for things to do when you next come to stay with us at Whitecliff Bay:

Butterfly and Fountain World, Newport

One of Newport’s premier family attractions, Butterfly and Fountain World offers a unique family-friendly day out where you all will no-doubt learn something too. Butterfly World has hundreds of specimens flying freely around a stunning and natural environment. Can you think of a better way for your kids to have such a great nature experience than to see it all in action? You can learn a lot about the different species and their life cycles. It’s fascinating and fun! The Fountain World section features unbelievable Japanese and Italian gardens, filled with fountains, koi ponds and more. There’s also the Jumping Jets water display and the Medina Garden Centre where you can pick up gifts, or even some things to take home to your own garden.

Isle of Wight Zoo, Sandown

This zoo knows how to cater to families. Why? Because it is also family run! They specialize in lemurs and tigers, and thus offer amazing hands-on wildlife experiences, such as the Big Cat Training, Lemur Feeding and Tiger Milk Feeding Experiences. They also have park tours, animal feeds, and also viewing of their newest arrival, Simi the rescued circus tiger. The zoo opens daily from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Don’t miss it!

The Many Beaches of the Isle of Wight (e.g. Whitecliff, Sandown, Ventnor, Shanklin etc.)

Adorned with around 60 miles of fantastic coastline, the Isle of Wight is home to some of the best beaches in Europe. There were 17 beaches awarded with blue flag status in 2014 alone. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a traditional British day at the seaside. Pack up your bucket and spade, and head to one of the many sandy beaches, complete with classic promenades, shops, cafes and much more.
