Exciting times for Boston West!

It is the latest investment, and the largest to date, at Boston West following new ownership in May 2016. The top of the range and latest in greens technology includes the 2500B Greensmower, the 9009A TerrainCut and the 3036E Compact Utility Tractor.

Course Manager Tom Luffman said: “it’s an exciting time at Boston West Leisure with the purchase of three brand new John Deere machines. The 2500B Greens-mower delivers a superb quality of cut, which will enable us to deliver a faster and truer putting surface. The 9009A TerrainCut will present the rough to a higher standard; its ability to follow the course contours and maintain an even cut is second to none. The 3036E Compact Utility Tractor with loader is a fantastic addition to us with all year round use, from loading sand to slitting greens.” Tom added: “In addition to the new machinery we have also recently welcomed a new Deputy Course Manager and added another greenkeeper to the team.”

Since new ownership in summer 2016, members and visitors have seen a plethora of short-term investments including the introduction of a new brand, redecoration and repair works, along with the purchase of new furniture, equipment and the recruitment of new personnel.

Director of Boston West Leisure Jon Portess is delighted at the progress so far. He said: “We have invested in the future of Boston West as we believe there is enormous potential for the venue. Our course currently is playable to excellent standards of full greens and tees all year round and with the arrival of the new equipment, along with the new personnel we can improve these standards even further.”

There is also further exciting times and plans ahead for the venue with the expansion of the already successful on-site hotel as well as the improvement of the existing clubhouse, function and conference facilities.

Jon added: “Within the next three months, once our plans are finalised, we will be seeking planning approval for 18 additional bedrooms for the hotel, taking the total to forty-two and we are currently assessing the feasibility of staging expansions and improvements to the other facilities too.”

Developments will take place over the next few years commencing with the hotel bedrooms, with plans and phases being shared with customers in the very near future.

In addition, the venue has already seen an overhaul of its menu with a brand new and exciting bar and grill menu, as well as the introduction of a Sunday Carvery.

An exciting journey has already started and it promises to be one that will continue to thrill members and guests alike.

Jon concluded: “We will strive to ensure Boston West is the best facility in the area. We will always concentrate on delivering the best quality of product and service, whether on the golf course or through our restaurant and function facilities. We want our venue to be the primary choice for the local golfer, as well as residentially and for an array of local events.”
