2008
Beginning in 2008, Carl as CEO, Greg as Operations Director and Neill as Finance Director teamed up and created our wonderfully unique Away Resorts. A UK holiday park business on a mission to truly show Great Britain how fabulous we really are…
Whitecliff Bay in the Isle of Wight was the first of many holiday parks we acquired, a beautiful hidden gem with stunning sea views. Hop on the ferry and absorb private beach views, good grub and unforgettable moments.
2009
Tattershall Lakes Country Park was then purchased, an action-packed lakeside paradise in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside. From gin-creating masterclasses to zip-wire adventures and paddleboarding fun, Tattershall Lakes has everything to keep the whole family entertained.
2010
Lights, camera, action! We were the very first holiday park operator to provide an ‘Outdoor Cinema’ experience. That’s right, you can tuck into your popcorn and snuggle under blankets for a viewing beneath the stars, how dreamy!
Our iconic harbourside Mill Rythe Coastal Village on the Hampshire Coast was purchased in 2010. Offering beautiful scenery, toe-tapping entertainment* and a stunning spot to enjoy crafted cocktails in our Missing Squirrel Bar.
2013
We purchased the stunning Barmouth Bay Welsh retreat, the perfect spot to relax between the Snowdonia mountains and blue sea. A holidaymaker favourite for sure.
In 2013 we attempted the World Record for the largest Custard Pie Fight and missed… but we were super close! This event remains one of our most special summer experiences every year across our locations*, make sure you join us this year!
2015
We welcomed Mersea Island to the family, a coastal Essex escape offering a chance to unwind, explore and discover all the hidden gems the island has to offer.
2017
In 2017 we developed our brand-new caravan design and named it the TriBeCa – our Away Resorts Exclusive Manhattan loft look all in a Great British Caravan! Featuring stand-alone bathtubs, hidden tv mirrors and bubbly hot tubs.*
Our first forest location was discovered, Sandy Balls Holiday Village in the glorious New Forest. A place to get stuck into a range of activities with the little ones, make friends with our resident alpacas or hop aboard a segway and get familiar with the New Forest sights and sounds…
Explosions of colours and giggles all around, our first ever Colour Throw took place in 2017. Another Away Resorts exclusive event, guaranteed to have the whole family smiling with joy!
2019
In 2019 we celebrated 100 years of Sandy Balls with an epic forest-themed Summer Festival. From Mad Hatter’s tea parties, custard catwalks and delightful doggie shows, we celebrated in style.
Head for the heights at our rocking Bar 49 at Tattershall Lakes, the first rooftop bar in Lincoln created in 2019. Savour the sweet taste of our delicious cocktails and tempting beers, wines and spirits whilst taking in the spectacular views and good vibes from above the lakes.
2020
Welcoming a splash of water to Tattershall Lakes! Our indoor splash pad, AquaPLAY and lakeside lido opened for everyone to enjoy on sunnier days. Not forgetting our adults only bar, the Giggling Goose, with guaranteed laid-back luxury, stylish vibes and a secret rooftop garden. How lovely!
Boston West, now known as Appletree Holiday Park in Lincolnshire, also joined the Away Resorts family as our first hotel and golf course. The perfect spot for families to enjoy the splash pad and a tipple for mum, whilst dad practices his swing on the driving range.
Our Burst of Blue accommodation also joined our Exclusive range, designed to offer something with a little more wow that won’t break the bank.
2021
Our beautiful Mill Rythe re-development began, turning our old school holiday park into a revamped, self-catered holiday resort, re-named as Mill Rythe Coastal Village.
Heading to the breath-taking Cornish coast, we purchased St Ives Bay Holiday Park and renamed it to St Ives Bay Beach Resort. A place to pause and take in spectacular sea views, enjoy romantic sunsets as a couple or pile in for a family holiday, it’s certainly one of the finest holiday spots.
Beachcomber joined the family, becoming the third location in the Northeast – we treated it to a new name too; Cleethorpes Pearl Holiday Park. We even installed a new outdoor swimming pool perfect for those summer days chilling poolside.
2021… continued!
Perfectly pink with dalmatian print, our Exclusive Esme accommodation was born. Without a doubt, the most Instagrammable accommodation a holiday park has ever seen that’s for sure! Neon wings and leafy backdrops mean you can enjoy a sleek and stylish interior inspired by Scandinavian design.
We welcomed our second Welsh location to the family, Golden Sands. A place for happy holidays centred around both relaxation and adventure situated in Rhyl.
East Fleet Farm Touring Park was welcomed as our first Dorset location, a relaxing Weymouth camping destination besides the Fleet Lagoon. Get ready to stargaze all night long and explore all that Dorset has to offer.
2021 was full of fun, new locations and an exciting merge with Aria Resorts meaning even more holiday resorts for us to deliver delight at! We become a super holiday park operator with locations now stretching the UK.
2022
Four new locations were added to our map as we acquired the Coppergreen group of parks. Another series of destinations for our holidaymakers to love time and time again!
2023
Don’t blink, or you’ll miss what’s coming this year. Having accumulated many travel awards, new parks and striving off our vision and values we can’t wait to see what the future holds as we continue to shake up the industry. Happy 15th Birthday Away Resorts!
