The new year may be here for us in the UK, but over in China it’s still a few more weeks away! To commemorate Chinese New Year (also known in China as Spring Festival), Robin Hill Country Park’s “Electric Woods” is bringing you a very special event – Spirit of the Orient.
Running from February 13th to 21st, this ancient woodland will become a stunning spectacle of oriental-themed light, sound and entertainment. It will be open from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, starting just as dusk falls so as to give the incredible array of coloured lanterns, flags and other features. The beautiful, close-knit trees, when combined with the lights, will bring a magical glow to the paths and glades. There will be a series of new sound and light displays made especially for this Oriental event, each taking on a different elemental theme; earth, wind, fire and water. These are never-before-seen effects at Electric Woods, and bring Chinese culture to life, as will the traditional lion dance.
A veritable feast of Chinese cuisine will be on offer, and a 12-metre long dragon procession will crown the whole event in glory. Yes, that’s one 12-metre dragon, not 12 metres of mini dragon costumes! There will also be a falconry show, a tea ceremony and plenty of leaping fire and razzamatazz. It’s not to be missed! Tickets are £10.95 per person (for all those 4 and over).
Why not base yourself at Whitecliff Bay before going to attend this unique event? Don’t forget, it’s not only in Robin Hill Country Park that you’re likely to find stunning natural scenery.
