Never ones to waste good weather, the Away Resorts team at Tattershall Lakes put on an event for the ages.
You didn’t need to be hungry to join in the annual Cream Pie fight, you just needed the hunger to cover as many family members, friends and other guests in foam.
The weekend began with our BIG Sandcastle competition. This was held on our lakeside beach and saw some amazing creations from some very talented young guests. The Hampton family claimed the first prize of the day with an impressive sandcastle that rivaled the famous Taj Mahal.
More fun for the little ones followed. The main Cream Pie Fight might be a little bit too lively for the younger guests, but that didn’t stop the team from letting them make a mess of their own. Armed with a foam cannon and stacks of foam-filled plates, the sandy estate that was created turned into a white mess of bubbles and shaving foam at the hands of the little campers.
There was a buzz around the park as the sun rose on Sunday morning. The team at Tattershall Lakes were up and at it early in preparation for the day ahead.
11.00am – The day was kicked off by our Bear in the Woods Show, Bear and the gang put on another amazing show singing songs, telling stories and playing fun games. If you love Bear, Lucy or Scratch why not take them home with you?
11.15am – The fun began! Guests were urged to register with the Entertainments Team to give themselves a chance to win a prize. The stalls included some amazing games including classics like Tin Can Alley, Hook a Duck, Coconut Shy and many more.
11.45am – The first sight of a pie was the much anticipated Pie Eating Competition. The challenge…to eat a huge apple pie with, of course, a healthy helping of whipped cream. 2 rounds of 6 contestants sat on the stage and the fastest from each group ate their way through to the grand final. Josh breezed through the more reasonable serving of 1/2 a pie to claim the Pie Eating King title.
12.30pm – 2:00pm – Musical interlude. Dancing, musical game shows and a summer festival vibes from our resident guitar vocalist Glen Tortalano. This kept the crowd jumping and allowed the team to prepare for the carnage of the main event.
2.00pm – Raffle draw and Prize presentation. The winners from the day’s activities were called up on to the stage to claim their prizes
2.15pm – THE MAIN EVENT. The part of the day everyone had been waiting for. The foam cannon was rolled back out, and on the sound of the claxon, it was every man for himself. Not even the team were safe as guests turned the entire area into a white mess.
All the pies had been thrown and the cannon went away until next year, the clean up began. The team rolled out the hose pipe and helped spray down some very grateful guests.
Once again the day was a massive success, so well organised and executed by the team.
