Take a trip to Hayling Island Coastal Park Mill Rythe...

Are you and your partner thinking about a staycation but not sure where to stay? Then look no more – Mill Rythe Coastal Village on Hayling Island is the perfect choice. We spoke to Niki her partner, plus the dog Hattie, and they told us all about their stay…

Where did you travel from?
We live in St Albans, and it was an easy 1 hour and 45 min drive for us!

Who did you travel with and what did you do whilst on park?
It was myself, my partner and our Boston Terrier (Hattie)!

Due to commitments, we were unable to arrive until after Guest Services had closed, however we received a pre-arrival call from the park and when I explained the situation, they said that was no problem, and gave us a number to call when we arrived. We pulled up in the car park in front of Guest Services, rang the number and a lovely security guard came and gave us our keys and explained where our accommodation was.

We had booked a TriBeCa and were blown away by the quality of the accommodation. Really spacious, beautifully decorated, with the comfiest looking king-sized bed in the master bedroom. The little touches in the welcome pack were a lovely surprise. Having forgotten to pack shampoo, the amazing smelling toiletries came in very useful, and our pooch loved her own little bag of surprises!

Once unpacked, we took a short stroll down to the Missing Squirrel. It’s dog friendly so Hattie was able to come along too! We like to go to fancy cocktails bars and this place lived up to those. The décor was incredible, and like nothing we’ve seen on a holiday park before!

We both tried the cocktails, I had a French Martini which was delicious. My partner tried the Smoked Old Fashioned, which came complete with theatrics, a glass dome was lifted to reveal the cocktail and smoke, it was so good he had a second!

We then wandered back to our accommodation and had a bite to eat, cooked in a fully kitted out kitchen.
In the morning, we decided to go back to the Missing Squirrel for breakfast. We both had the full English, which was yummy. Great quality and set us up nicely for the day!

We had a walk around the park and could see where further developments were underway. We couldn’t hear anything from our van, and it was exciting to see what might be there next time we visit!

We then took a quick 10-minute drive down the beach, and took Hattie for a long walk! I think all the beaches are dog friendly off season, but worth checking for peak. We had a quick coffee and a homemade cake from the café right in the car park we had parked in, before heading back to the park.

The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent relaxing on the lovely L shaped sofa, watching Netflix, and enjoying the Prosecco we had received in our welcome pack. Hattie tucked into the dog treats she found in her bag of goodies!

Sadly, we had to leave early the next day, but we had a great time! Every member of staff we met was friendly and couldn’t do enough to help.

We will be back, and plan on trying some of the dog friendly places to visit, and places to eat that we found suggested on the Away Resorts website.
